Parker SSD Drives Used to Power High Speed Winding Machines
A case study exploring the use of Parker SSD Drives to power high speed winding machines was recently conducted.
ProblemÂ
Aiming for the improvement of productivity and quality, the customer made contact with the Parker SSD Drives division for their expertise regarding the implementation of a new high-speed double spooling machine. The customer made this decision after experiencing repeated breakdowns and maintenance issues on its cable machines. With the help of the Parker SSD technical team, he decided to replace 6 old machines by 2 high speed winding machine (1400 m/min) with high precision wire guiding system.
Solution
- 4 x MA high speed asynchronous motors for winders and unwinders.
Â
- 2 x NX servomotors for high precision wire guiding.
Â
- 6 x AC890 universal system drives with common DC supply for both asynchronous and servomotors control.
Â
- 1 unique AC890 CS power supply module for the whole system. TS8000 touch panel for the management of the machine’s operation.
Â
Outcome
Parker SSD Parvex designed and commissioned a complete system solution based on its standard product offer.Â
Â
Customer Value
- Easy and user friendly control of the machine.
- High winding accuracy increasing coils quality.
- Space and money savings in power cabinet thanks to AC890 common DC bus concept.
- Improve productivity with high speed double spooling machine.
- Complete turnkey solution.
Â
The Machine
Because the winding machine is composed of two identical winding/unwinding units, it is able to reach line speeds of up to 1400 m/mn. A highly accurate closed-pattern wire guiding system allows realizing coils of impeccable quality. Each winding/unwinding unit is equipped with a graphical operator panel for setting and on-line visualization of parameters, alarms, etc.
