Engineering and Integration of DC Drives

This item was filled under [ DC Drives ]

DC drives are made up of an SCR (Silicon Controlled Rectifier) bridge that is responsible for converting incoming three or single-phase AC volts to DC volts.  This conversion process makes it possible for DC drives to regulate speed, torque, voltage and current conditions of the DC motor.  This is perfect for industrial processes like paper machines, mixers, extruders, tube mills and several other controlled applications.  EP Normand primarily provides DC drives manufactured by Parker Hannifin.  DC drive packages vary from custom multi drive cabinets to onsite retrofits.

With the help and expertise of its highly experienced team of engineers and technical staff, EP Normand is able to provide solutions for either new applications or existing drive problems.  Find below a list of solutions that may be helpful to your business:

  • Sizing a DC drive to a target horsepower, current and voltage required.

  • Engineered cabinet cooling system for any environment.  Today’s DC drives are more compact and can be placed in smaller enclosures only if the correct cooling is applied.

  • Power and harmonics issues can be addressed and corrected through the use of isolation transformers, reactors and filter packages.

  • Customizing control and analog circuitry to be integrated with existing engineered specifications.

  • Peer to Peer and Master/Slave drive configurations for Follower and High Horsepower applications.

  • MCC and Switchgear installation type custom packaging for growing demands of the industry.

  • Operator consoles / Door mounted pilot and metering devices.

  • Communication Systems for advanced Modbus, Profibus and Data HighWay linking multiple devices such as power management and HMI/PLC systems.
