Compax3 Servo’s Offer Greater Power Range

This item was filled under [ Servo Drives ]

A recent development took place with regards to the Compax3 servo drive.  The power range of the Compax3 servo drives has been increased with the aim of extending their scope of application in to the high power bracket.  This means that the Compax3 range now covers from 1kVA right up to 110kVA.  This also resulted in potential duties now including applications like material forming, presses, printing and paper conversion, including those projects involving torque motors.

The extension of the Compax3 drive range helps to reinforce the Parker’s reputation as a ‘one stop’ supplier for automation systems.  Important features of the Compax3 drives include scalable functionality and versatility of application regarding servo motor technologies.  Apart from being compatible with international fieldbus protocols (such as Ethernet, PowerLink, DeviceNet, CANopen, Profibus DP and RS232/RS485) they can also be incorporated into most control system configurations.

Functionality ranges from simple basic analogue +/-10V torque/velocity, plus step-direction control up to intelligent drives with PLC functions.  Programming takes place via industry standard IEC 61131-3 language, which simplifies integration into existing systems and minimizes training.

With regards to motor compatibility, the Compax3 can be used with a wide range of servo motors (synchronous, asynchronous, linear and torque motors).  It supports feedback from resolvers, encoders, single/multi-turn SinCos and incremental encoders with Sine-Cosine signals.  All the new higher power drives operate from 3-phase 400/480VAC, meaning they are suitable for duties worldwide.
