DC drives regulate the speed of a DC motor. It is the midway point between the controller and motor, and converts alternating current into direct current.
Parker is an international company that specialises in motion and control, solving problems easily and effectively. Parker DC drives boast a variety of innovative and reliable features that will succeed in any environment.
Parker 590 DC Drive
The Parker 590 DC Drive range boasts both flexibility and functionality. They are able to fulfil the requirements of applications ranging from extremely demanding, to basic motor systems. Some of their features and capabilities include:
A 32 bit Microcontroller
The Parker 590 DC Drive range makes use of a 32 bit microcontroller, which allows it to achieve and produce complex control algorithms, software-configurable control circuitry, and serial link communication.
The 2 Models Available
There are two models that one can choose from, depending on your specific requirements.
- A Regenerative Model: The regenerative model has a lot of flexibility, allowing for quick and easy switches between motoring and braking. They consist of a four-quadrant drive and have the ability to convert mechanical energy into electrical energy. They include one field bridge, and two fully-controlled thyristor bridges. This allows for transient and overload protection. These drives also allow for rotation in both directions.
- A Non-Regenerative Model: Popular in applications where high friction loads are needed to create a powerful natural brake function; they generally consist of single quadrant drives that rotate in a single direction. The Parker non-regenerative drives include a field bridge as well as a fully-controlled thyristor bridge. It is also completely protected against overload, while allowing for highly accurate speed and torque control.
A Standard Field Regulator
The standard field regulator that is fitted to the Parker 590 DC Drive includes a full-wave, half controlled, single phase thyristor bridge. It also boasts transient and overload protection. It performs well in applications where constant torque is required, and can produce either a fixed voltage or current source.
